WHY ARIA ? AFTER THE LONG NIGHT- SPOILERS AHEAD!

WHY ARYA ?
AFTER THE LONG NIGHT
Warning! This post contains spoilers for episode 3 season 8

Many Game Of Thrones fans are disappointed by The Long Night (Episode 3 Season 8), there are many complaints about the light (Melisandre brought some Light... nah?) and to be honest I also had a hard time seeing what was happening on my TV screen, but a contrario to popular opinion, I think that the obscurity was adding to the atmosphere of the episode: darkness, anguish, confusion, uncertainty...(so stressful!).There are also complaints about the deads (lack of and choice of) but I'm also good with it because we only have 3 episodes left and GOT is all about characters and to keep it interesting we need a nice amount of great characters to be alive.
The great betrayal comes for many from the way the Night King died (?) and by whom he was killed.
For me, ARYA was the best candidate to kill him and I'm going to tell you why I think the showrunners did a good job with the story of the show. And if doesn't make sense for the book readers, it's not far-fetched for the tv viewers(sorry not sorry!).

1- She came prepared

From the very beginning, we meet a young girl who is brave, dexterous, who wants justice and is not satisfied with the role that her family and society wants her to play. Later, she grows to be determined, focused, revengful and a strong girl, a quick learner who can adapt very well and follow orders when needed. But she never loses the goal she has in mind. She was taught from the very beginning" to stick them with the pointy end", to say "not today!" to the Lord of Death, she was taught to become "no one "and she did, but at the core she was always ARYA STARK, she never forgot who she was and  that she had a purpose. She took a lot of bruises but each of them was a lesson and she got better and better. She did all those things for love, love for her family and her people. All those journeys and trainings brought her where she needed to be: At Home.

2- The others are good players but couldn't stand a chance against the Night King

You can try to deny this truth but  you have to face it !  In the Battle of Winterfell: ARYA was the best player against the NK.The hidden card!
People are mad because she came out of nowhere and killed the Night King, for many it is unrealistic and disappointing because It wasn't Jon or Dany or both, or a joint effort, or a little magic, or longer.
Even with a combination of all, our heroes would have lost against the NK because he was too prepared to win and too powerful. They were all afraid, they knew they had a little chance to win but still they were brave and they went for it with all their might. They were all willing to win or die. He knew Jon and Dany already, fought them and knew their weaknesses and never thought of them as real rivals that's why he never gave his all to engage in a battle with them, and that's what ultimately caused his loss.
Many times he stared at them without engaging in anything too brutal, he was knowlegeable, quick, very powerful, he had the power to make every dead his soldier, so his army was only going to grow exponentially. He had the good cards .To get rid of him It had to be quick and effective, because he was faster and stronger than anyone, plus he had a lot of magic tricks.
He knew he could exterminate each and everyone of them and he was right. He could have easily kill them all, and that was going to happen eventually. Once the wall was crossed, it was only a matter of time and he took his time somehow. He really underestimated them, he knew they were good warriors and even seemed to appreciate the good fight at times, but he never took the steps further to kill them with all his ressources. His generals never did anything(They stood there all the time, yeah they did the cool slow walk into winterfell at the end but hey! too late!) and that is very telling about what he tought of his enemies, for him they were below his level and that kind of thinking is always a mistake.
He was prepared to win not to die, and when you go to war of thrones, you have to think of both.

3-The situation needed an assassin not a hero

Jon Snow Stark Targaryen is without a doubt a hero, he proved it many times, he is loyal (for the most part) humble, brave, true and  a real fighter. He is my favourite character, almost  a perfect man. In GOT, I feel there is no real main character, leading hero, that's why it's genius, there are many good characters (even when they're bads) and if they play well, they have a chance to the throne, in my opinion there is no "rightful heir" and that's what I like about the show. George RR Martin made a wonderful universe with magnificent characters, who are somehow really real in this fantasy. David Benioff and D.B Weiss, the Cast and Crew did a tremendous work and gave life to  the most epic TV Show in TV history. GOT has its imperfections, I'll say that there has never been a show like this and I'm not sure there will ever be another one like it. It's pure magic! And if this is the beginning of a new Era in television, If it inspires good writing, directing, producing and acting etc... THANK YOU GOT!
But I digress, the situation in episode 3 needed an assassin not a hero, Jon is an honorable enemy not an ambitious one, he will fight you with all his strength, he would come straight at you and give his all. Jon Snow is a decent man, Jon would have faced the NK bravely and would have died bravely like Theon did. There was no need for bravery, the stakes were too high and the issue was too predictable with every other scenario. ARYA is a faceless (wo?)man, she became no one, she knew how to move without being seen, without noise, how to morphe into someone else, how to enter and exit a place in every circumstances, she learned how to kill everybody and everyone and she wanted to see death, that's who she became: a machine to kill. And the story needed her to be like that: Fierce and all! We saw her train, grow, evolve, change in all her Badass-adulting and struggles, she knew who she was and she needed to be in a "faceless men mode" and not ARYA's mode to deliver and she did quickly and sharply, pointily: How it needed to be done. She was The perfect Candidate to kill the NK and The Red Woman knew it, she knew that they needed the NK to feel victorious and comfortable to defeat him, in life like in GOT you're more vulnerable when you think that you've have won (RIP Oberyn). Power is Power and you can't fight with Power only! You need to have strategy, a little edge and a great timing.

4- The Night King was not playing the game of thrones ?

I'm not sure about this but I think that the NK was not playing the games of thrones, he wanted to end something (someone?) why exactly? I don't know! But his mind was less on throne and more on the Three Eyed Raven aka Bran. He seemed to really enjoy his victory when he was staring  (almost lovingly?) at Bran. The result of the death of the TER would have been the beginning of the long night and not a sitting on a throne and taking a selfie kind of thing. So It's seems very fitting for him to be gone by now. Even if it's a little disapointing (years of preliminaries for a 1 minute death ) but he could have caused some irreparable damages to our heroes and their men (he did that but It could have been much worse!) He was a mean not a meaningful (in this story?), so we have to say :" Not tonight NK! NOT TODAY!!!" (hum! maybe later?)

5-Shock and Awe

GOT is a Great show and maybe the Greatest of All Times, the showrunners know how to play the game with our hearts, they know how to surprise and please us in every way, at every turn, George RR Martin' style! So to all the GOT fans I say : Don't be disappointed yet! We still have 3 episodes to go and although It was shocking for some this week, the show is still AWESOME! and something that will put you in AWE is coming.

Pardon my english, I'm French.
